Fed Up with Your Food?

photo 13It sure seems as if we can’t agree on what food is best for us. Maybe that is because those in charge of formulating the messages we hear the loudest follow an agenda that is not aligned with what’s best for our health in the long run. The main problem is that fresh produce doesn’t come with a marketing budget, or a healthy profit margin. Try the Pie, Shepherd’s Style

photo 9There are certain recipes that sound intimidating until you make them for the first time. Believe it or not, for me, one of these was a simple shepherd’s pie. We didn’t grow up with it, and I rarely had tasted it, but still was intrigued by making a one-pot-meal, with meat, carbs, and a ton of vegetables all combined in one deliciously comforting pie. If you haven’t tried it before, and want to tackle something new, this is the perfect dish that is versatile, quick and forgiving. Give the shepherd’s pie a try! Come and cook with us! So, How Are We Doing So Far?

photoWe’re in our first week of the New Year and it’s already time to talk about those New Year’s resolutions. I’d be disappointed if you didn’t include at least one that has to do with healthier eating or cooking more. We know it’s sometimes hard to live by our lofty goals, but we can make a difference to our health and that of our families by applying even small changes in the food choices we make. There are plenty of opportunities to put on our plates what’s right for our health – at least three meals per day, 365 days in the year, throw in a snack or two per day and you’re up to 1,500 eats per year. Just think what a difference your choices can make! Come and cook with us! Continue reading “So, How Are We Doing So Far?”
