This is a simple and easy recipe that produces a mouth-watering and gorgeous looking treat. I buy organic strawberries and eat them within a day as the strawberries lose their freshness when packed in chocolate cover. They never last longer anyway…
Ingredients
1 pint strawberries, preferably organic
12 oz dark (or milk) chocolate chips, baking chips or melting chocolate
3 oz white chocolate chips, baking chips or melting chocolate (optional for decorating)
Instructions
Wash strawberries and let them air dry in a cool place. Berries must be completely dry.
Prepare a rimmed baking sheet with wax paper.
Fill a medium pot with an inch of water and set a glass bowl filled with the dark chocolate into it.
Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
Carefully stir chocolate until smooth.
Alternatively, melt the chocolate in a microwave at half power for approximately 1 minute, stir and then heat for another minute.
Hold strawberries by their stem and dip lower half of each berry into the chocolate mixture.
Let excess drip back into the saucepan and carefully place on wax paper. Let cool.
Melt white chocolate and swing a fork dipped into the chocolate over the strawberries to create streaks.
Repeat until you have decorated all strawberries.
Let cool and enjoy with your loved ones.
