Sauteed Apples, Pears or Stone Fruit

Serves 2-4; time: 20 minutes

This recipe is quick and easy, and very well liked by the under 6 set in Kathrin’s house. Apples are great for the fall, but it works just as well with pears, peaches, apricots and nectarines. Use whatever is in season and try to buy fruit that is ripe but still firm so it does not get too soft while cooking.

Ingredients:

2 crisp apples (Granny Smith or Gala work best)

2 tsp unsalted butter

1 tsp cinnamon

Instructions:

Peel, core and thinly slice apples into wedges.

Heat butter over low-medium heat in a sauté pan – don’t let it brown!

Add apples and cinnamon, reduce heat and cook covered for 8-10 minutes until apples are golden brown and soft. Keep the lid on so that the apples soften in their juice and don’t burn.

Serve warm with or without vanilla ice cream.
