Sample Three-Day Shopping List for Fresh Meats and Produce

Here is a sample of what your three-day shopping list might look like on any given trip.  Note that we keep it simple, just a few items, and there are many combinations that can work by pairing the basics with this short list:

Fresh Meat:
Ground beef (remember to use or freeze it on the day of purchase)
A chicken breast or two

Fresh Produce (seasonal):
Avocados
Cucumber
Tomatoes
Head of lettuce

Other:
Can of spanish green olives (unless it’s in your pantry already)
Goat cheese (again, unless it’s in your pantry already)

This shopping list will easily allow you to make spaghetti and meat-balls with a greek salad, chicken marbella with olives, prunes and a lettuce salad, and tacos with left-over meatballs, avocados, tomatoes, lettuce. You can round it out with a simple tomato risotto, using the onions and rice from your pantry and adding goat cheese to refine the flavors.  Finally, depending on the season, pick up fresh fruit for dessert (apples, berries and a pineapple).
